Access-point architecture
Store access points communicate with ESLs over a 2.4 GHz wireless ESL architecture. Access points support PoE or DC power and connect over cabled or approved wireless store networks.
- 2.4 GHz wireless ESL communication
- PoE or DC-powered configurations
- Cable or approved wireless network uplink
- Batch label updates and store zoning
- AP and label health monitoring
Access-point quantity, coverage radius, area, label capacity and update throughput depend on store geometry, shelving, metal and RF interference, label volume, wireless network design and approved system configuration. Performance figures are validated per site during the ESL radio survey.
POS, ERP and API integration
Smart Citizens integrates the retail platform with POS, ERP, product-information and inventory systems through validated APIs. Integration scope is confirmed per project.
- API-based product and pricing sync
- Excel-based import as fallback
- Approval workflow prior to shelf publication
- Update-history reporting for audits
Integration with POS, ERP, product-information and inventory systems is available subject to API access, data structure and approved project scope. API documentation, hosting architecture, security posture and data-residency requirements are validated per project.
Retail benefits
- Improved price accuracy at the shelf
- Faster promotional rollout across stores
- Reduced paper and printing overhead
- Reduced manual label replacement
- More consistent multi-store shelf messaging

Frequently asked questions
Can ESLs connect to my POS or ERP?
Integration is available subject to API access, data structure and approved project scope. Integration is validated per project during the technical workshop.
Is a site survey required?
Yes. An ESL radio survey validates access-point quantity, coverage, label capacity and update throughput for each store.
How much does an ESL system cost?
Pricing depends on label quantity, display sizes, access-point design, software, integration, mounting accessories, installation and support. Smart Citizens prepares a project-specific commercial proposal after reviewing the store and integration requirements.
